Did you know the first Tibetan Buddhist Centre in the West, founded in 1967, is right here in Scotland?
A short drive from Moffat, is Samye Ling.
Last year I got quite into spirituality and I felt drawn to visit Samye Ling. My friend and I headed down for an overnight break tying in a very nice meal at Brodies (I’ll be sharing our photos on Foodinburgh soon) and a hike up Greymare’s Tail (the UK’s fifth largest waterfall).
When you arrive at Samye Ling there is a small garden with a Wishing Tree. It’s customary to navigate the garden in a certain direction, it’s all explained on a sign for you.
There are several areas to visit at the centre including the temple, tea room, shop and gardens.
