One of our highlights of 2016, and certainly my highlight with Erin, was our fantastic mother and daughter trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos. Erin follows the Beaches Instagram account and is always reminiscing about what a great time we had. It highlighted to me how important it is, if it’s logistically possible, to take mum and daughter trips more often. It’s something I am going to try and do regularly over the next few years.
Here are our top 11 memories of Beaches Turks and Caicos;
11. The Sesame Street Character Breakfast
As your child gets older, those little moments where they can be a kid become more and more precious. This was one of those moments. Erin danced, clapped, and joined in with the younger kids and was completely care free.
10. Teppanyaki at Kimono’s
What’s more fun than singing chefs and having morsels of food flipped towards your mouth for you to catch? All the things that are usually completely unacceptable at the dinner table – great fun.
9. Swim up bar, Italian Village
I’d always thought of a swim up bar as a bit of a gimmick, but I totally get it now – you get to enjoy a drink while the kids play in the pool. Perfect!
8. The Cocktails
Endless cocktails made with premium spirits. Yum!
7. The Reading Road Trip
Erin and I went prepared for the road trip with loads of supplies donated by her primary school. It was fun meeting the locals and spending an hour reading with them.
6. The Catamaran Cruise
The catamaran cruise is a great way to see Providenciales from a new angle. It was so relaxing sailing along while the kids were entertained by the Sesame Street crew.
5. Endless games of table hockey, pool and table tennis
This was the holiday where Erin was able to enjoy the facilities for older kids. It was lovely to spend time just playing together, and by the end of the trip her pool skills were pretty good.
4. Surf Simulator
Erin’s never been that adventurous but that side of her was brought out at the water park (the largest in the Caribbean) and in particular the surf simulator – she was a bit of a natural. The wipe out always makes the best shot though!
3. Kids swim up bar
Do you remember when you were a kid and it seemed like the parents had all the good stuff? Oh how times have changed, kids at Beaches Turks and Caicos have their very own swim up bar serving mocktails from 11am.
2. Playing with new friends
One of my favourite parts ofany holiday is seeing Erin make new friends. As an only child I’ve found cruises and all inclusives are the best type of holiday for making friends.
1. Watching the sunrise on Grace Bay
There was no competition for our best memory of the trip. We were a bit jet lagged so were waking up very early. We took the opportunity to head down to Grace Bay. The sun rose as Erin paddled and played in the sand.
I lay there looking out to see and at my daughter, and life was perfect.
