Once you have given up to do lists, found some peace of mind, discovered you can choose not to be stressed, and that you don’t need as much money as you thought – you can take a deep breath and begin to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
I spent quite a few years as an adult, and many as a child, being relatively poor. It’s great when you start earning money and the pressure is off, but you miss the enjoyment you used to get from simple pleasures. You get sidetracked by shopping, eating out, and going to concerts and shows. All fun things to do, in moderation.
Since embarking on this journey of simplicity and minimalism, I have found myself revisiting these pleasures, which are just as enjoyable now as they were when I had no money.
Here are ten things that I personally gain pleasure from that cost little to no money at all.
1. Fresh bedsheets
2. A tasty home cooked meal
3. Wool socks
4. A clean and tidy home
5. Board games with the family
6. A hot chocolate
7. Playing my cornet
9. A good chat with a friend
10. Cuddling up in front of a good TV program
What are your simple pleasures? Do you still get chance to enjoy these things?
